Less than a month ago, polls had Newark Mayor Cory Booker trouncing former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan by 35 percentage points.  Indeed, why even hold a debate?  Let's just go to the polls - as a formality - before we announce the United States Senate's newest member.  But a funny thing happened on the way to today's debate**....which - unofficially - had Lonegan trouncing Booker by more than 3 to 1 :

Will 9-11 again define America?

It is possible that the WMD Syria "crisis" is provoking a national, critical, self evaluation and a re-defining of American ideals.

Next week marks the infamous, September 11, 2001 date when America was attacked by radical Islamists.  We suffered a loss of more than 3,000 innocent lives; at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 93 over Shanksville, Pa,  For this, we have grieved for the past 12 years.  

Last year, on this same date, we suffered the added assault - and insult to our sensibilities - when our embassy, in Benghazi, Libya, was targeted by terrorists which resulted in the loss of four lives - including our ambassador, Chris Stevens. This despite 'warnings' and still unanswered questions of "Who?" and "How?"

Lonegan, Eck and the Buckley Rule

After years of having been involved with both Dr. Alieta Eck and Mayor Steve Lonegan, it's fair to say that they are both very smart folks with core beliefs that distinguish and separate them from any of the Democrat, U.S. Senate (primary) opponents.  So, rather than highlight individual strengths or weaknesses, we will simply admit to being firm believers in "The Buckley Rule" - named after the noted Conservative, William F. Buckley - which states:  "Support the most conservative candidate who is electable." **
We firmly believe that person is former Mayor, Steve Lonegan!
